Because this is a traditional slope-front design, entry requires navigating a metal stair system with handrails. It is best suited for fully mobile users who are comfortable with below-ground access.

Design & Premium Features

The 7×10 slope front storm shelter features reinforced concrete construction with a stamped concrete exterior designed to integrate naturally into flat yards or gently sloped terrain. Entry is through a sloped front with metal stairs and handrails on both sides for stability when entering and exiting the shelter.

The powder-coated steel door is designed to resist corrosion and weather exposure. Each shelter includes an 8-inch turbine and a 3-inch vent to promote airflow during occupancy. The bottom of every below-ground shelter includes a water-resistant protective coating for added durability.

The 7×10 below-ground storm shelter provides approximately 70 square feet of interior space. Based on FEMA space guidelines, the minimum safety capacity is typically around 14–23 people standing, while more comfortable use allows for fewer occupants with room for seating or emergency supplies. FEMA & ENGINEERING SPECIFICATIONS

Our below-ground storm shelters are designed to meet and exceed FEMA 320 and ICC 500 guidelines for storm shelter construction. FEMA does not “approve” individual shelters; instead, these guidelines outline design and performance standards intended to provide protection during extreme weather events.

Each 7×10 jumbo slope front storm shelter is constructed using 5,000 PSI reinforced concrete with ½-inch rebar on 12-inch centers and features a heavy-duty triple-latch steel door system engineered for extreme wind resistance. When properly installed, these engineering standards are intended to withstand extreme tornado conditions, including EF5-level wind forces.

These construction standards are consistent across our below-ground storm shelter models and are specifically suited for Oklahoma soil conditions and severe weather.

How Installation Works

We handle the installation process from start to finish so you know what to expect before installation day.

Scheduling & Communication

After you request pricing, we review your location, access details, and site conditions, then schedule installation based on availability. We handle communication throughout the process and keep you informed if weather or site conditions require adjustments to the schedule.

Agreement & Preparation

You’ll receive your storm shelter agreement a few weeks prior to installation outlining pricing, installation details, and warranty information. We submit the required OKIE811 utility locate ticket before installation. OKIE811 marks public utilities only and does not locate private lines such as septic or sewer systems, water or well lines, propane lines, or irrigation. Homeowners are responsible for identifying any private utilities so placement can be confirmed safely.

On-Site Placement & Installation

On installation day, placement is confirmed on site with the homeowner before any excavation begins. Your storm shelter is then delivered and professionally installed by us. Installation typically takes 3-4 hours.

After Installation

Once installation is complete, we answer any final questions and remain available after installation if anything comes up.

Awesome company! They answered my email for a quote and asked all necessary questions! I tried to keep it local here but no one wanted to go the extra mile! They were in and out in less than 2 hours! After waiting a couple of months for the weather to cooperate and for us to finally get a break from all the rain, the installation went surprisingly fast. Jack delivered my 5x7 saferoom to Pauls Valley on May 7th. Stacy was truly a blessing during the whole process, a very caring person who listened to your needs. Jack and the other gentleman did a fantastic job of installing the shelter. They are very professional and I highly recommend Sprague's Backhoe. Do you require a deposit or charge additional fees?

No deposit is required to reserve your installation. Payment is due in full at the time of installation. We accept cash, check, and card payments. What access is required for installation?

We need clear access for delivery and installation equipment, which typically includes adequate driveway or yard access for a crane truck. A minimum of 10 feet wide and 14 feet tall clearance is required, with all obstacles such as fences, vehicles, low-hanging branches, or overhead lines cleared prior to installation. What is the interior height of the 7x10 jumbo slope front storm shelter?

The interior height from the floor to the peak of the ceiling is approximately 6 feet 2 inches. Because of the sloped roof design, the height is slightly lower along the edges where the walls meet the ceiling, which is typical for below-ground storm shelters.

Does the 7x10 slope front shelter need to be installed in a slope?

No. Despite the name, the 7×10 slope front shelter does not require a naturally sloped yard. It can be installed in flat or gently graded areas. The term “slope front” refers to the entry design, not the yard conditions.

How much dirt is left after installing a 7x10 below-ground storm shelter?

Some excess soil is expected with any below-ground installation. With the 7×10 slope front shelter, there is typically about two to three dump-truck loads (approximately 24-30 tons) of dirt remaining after installation and backfill.
